Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings

This crispy chicken wings recipe is a favorite in my family. Every time I make it, the aroma fills the kitchen and everyone gathers around, waiting for that first crunchy bite. The Dijon mustard, herbs, and touch of lemon bring a delicious balance of savory and zesty flavor,  all made in the air fryer, no deep frying needed!

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

• About 20 whole chicken wings, cleaned with lime and cut in half

• 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

• 1 tablespoon soy sauce

• ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

• 1 teaspoon garlic powder

• Juice of ½ lemon

• 1 teaspoon paprika

• ½ teaspoon black pepper or white pepper

• 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

• 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

• (Optional) A few tablespoons of sparkling water for extra crispiness

For the Seasoned Flour:

• 2 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon salt

• 1 teaspoon garlic powder

• 1 teaspoon paprika

• ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

• ½ teaspoon black pepper or white pepper

• 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken: Clean the chicken wings with lime and rinse well. Cut them in half (flats and drumettes). Add salt, soy sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, lemon juice, paprika, pepper, dried basil, and Dijon mustard. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.

2. Marinate: (Optional) Add a little sparkling water to the seasoned chicken,  this helps create an airy, crisp texture. Cover and let marinate for about 30 minutes.

3. Prepare the Seasoned Flour: In a separate bowl, combine flour with all the seasonings listed above. Mix well.

4. Coat the Chicken: Toss the marinated wings in the seasoned flour, coating each piece evenly. Shake off any extra flour.

5. Air Fry:  Arrange wings in a single layer (don’t overcrowd). Air fry for 20–25 minutes on 350° turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

6. Serve: Enjoy your wings hot,  perfect with a squeeze of lemon or your favorite dipping sauce!

Tips

• For extra-crispy wings, lightly spray or brush oil on top before air frying.

• You can also toss them in your favorite sauce (like honey garlic, BBQ, or spicy glaze) after cooking.
